John 3: The new birth
Updated: Nov 2, 2022
The title of this post has been extracted directly from the New King James Bible version in the gospel of John, Chapter 3. I considered the meaning and purpose of this Word will be of more significance when it is directly extracted from the Bible. The reason for this post is often times, we may wonder, what does it mean to be born again, saved or have the new birth identity which makes us sons of God. Romans 8: 14 puts it best that "as many who are led by the spirit, these are the sons of God".
Below is an excerpt from John 3 : 1- 8 that I believe highlights the process of becoming a new creation in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:17). This is initiated with the confession of the mouth and the belief in our hearts that Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour (Romans 10:9) and a water baptism (John 3:5 and Acts 8: 35 - 38). I encourage you to read the above Scriptures on your own as well. I trust God that you shall be blessed.
Heavenly Father, we invite your Presence and revelation as we read Your Word below in John 3: 1-8 (NKJV). May you fill us with the knowledge of Your truth In Jesus Name.
There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him."
Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."
Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?"
Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit (my emphasis), he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
"That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
"Do not marvel that I said to you, "You must be born again."
"The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit."
John 3: 16- 17 NKJV
"16. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
17. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved."
AMEN. Thank you Abba Father.
