Jonah Ch.3

Father God, thank you for the Word and Your love that You are continually pouring out into the world each day. We thank you that this holy week of Easter is no exception. May Your love and mercy continue to draw the hearts of your sons and daughters in different nations all over the world just like You did in the city of Nineveh in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Chapter 3 is the second last chapter of the book of Jonah and it starts off with the word of the LORD coming to Jonah again and this time Jonah obeyed God. Jonah 3:4 reads, "And Jonah began to enter the city on the first day's walk. Then he cried out and said, "Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!" As soon as the people heard this, they believed God and declared a fast for both man and animals. What's interesting about this story, is it's not just the people that repented, even the kings and nobles published this fast all over the entire city. This shows us the significance of having leaders who are submitted to the LORD God (Jonah 3:5-9) for they will lead their people to where their hearts are submitted.

When God saw that the people and leaders of Nineveh had all turned to Him wholeheartedly, He also expressed His heart of love and mercy towards them. Jonah 3:10 shows us God's heart and it says, "Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it."

Friend, just like in Nineveh, God would rather that no one gets destroyed especially as Jesus' second return to the earth draws closer. In 2 Peter 3:9, we also see an expression of God's heart of love which still applies today. It reads, "The LORD is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is long suffering towards us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." God desires for all to come to know Him and His one and only Son Jesus Christ, whom He sent to die for the sins of the world in a human body so that all can be born again into a relationship of communion and fellowship with the Father as it was always meant to be from the beginning of creation.

On that note, if you would like to know about God, the Father who from the beginning of creation has always loved you and desires to commune with you through a personal relationship with His only Son Christ by dwelling on the inside of you and to have eternal and everlasting life including all the blessings found in Christ Jesus - I invite you to make this confession:

"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever." AMEN.

Congratulations, by grace you are saved and are now a new creation in Christ Jesus. The old life has passed away and you have received the free gift of salvation into your life (2 Corinthians 5:17) where you get to freely access everything I've shared in this post.
