Power of prayer - Part 7

Heavenly Father, we thank you for this morning, for your grace and mercy that endures forever. May You give us understanding and revelation as we read Your Word In Jesus Name.

Today's lead Scripture is from Luke 11:2-4.

"2.So He (Jesus) said to them, "When you pray, say:

Our Father in heaven,

Hallowed be Your name.

Your Kingdom come.

Your will be done

On earth as it is in heaven.

3.Give us day by day our daily bread.

4.And forgive us our sins,

For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.

And do not lead us into temptation,

But deliver us from the evil one." Amen.

This prayer is sometimes referred to as the Lord's Prayer. I remember reciting this prayer at school as a child either on school assembly day or in class but not fully comprehending its full impact. As a born again believer, I'm starting to get a grasp of it with the help of the Holy Spirit and that's what I'm sharing today. This prayer starts off by praising God, recognizing his sovereignty and might, as the One and Only true and living God. Then it goes off to mention His kingdom - the kingdom of God. Then we proceed to ask God for His kingdom to come. We pray for His Kingdom to come here on earth because with His kingdom there is power through the name of Jesus Christ, His One and Only Son who gave His life for the forgiveness of our sins and so that we could have an abundant and eternal life. The Bible in 1 John 2:2: "And He (Jesus) Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world."

The presence of the Kingdom of God informs us that the existence of His kingdom means the existence of another kingdom which is representative of every force of darkness and evil here in the world. It is for this reason that Jesus Christ had to be born into the world in order to save mankind. Jesus Christ coming to earth established the presence of the kingdom of God here on earth. Jesus said in Matthew 24:35 "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words will by no means pass away." If the Son of the Almighty God, could not save us His beloved from heaven but He had to physically come to earth and conquer every power of darkness leading us to the next verse that says, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

The position of prayer brings us in communion with our Abba Father and with Jesus Christ who is forever interceding on our behalf (Romans 8:34) unlocking every blessing of His Heavenly kingdom here on earth. This is the reason we pray for God's will to be done here on earth as it is in heaven. Aside communing with our Father and building relationship with Him, the power of prayer is for the kingdom of God to continue its dominon and establishment here on the earth. And because God's kingdom has arrived, we pray and receive our daily bread, the forgiveness of sins and also soft hearts that forgive others, we are given the grace and and power to not be led into temptation and to be delivered from the evil one by the Almighty God.

Let's pray: Heavenly Father, we thank you for Your Word that is an ever bright shinning light in our lives and here on earth. We thank you for Your love for all of us as Your children that is reflected through Your One and Only Son Jesus Christ. We thank you Abba that because of Jesus, there is forgiveness of our sins and we have an eternal and abundant life. May Your kingdom continue to dominate, prevail and reflect its glory upon the earth and over every area of our lives. May Your will be done on earth and in Your children's lives as it is in heaven. We thank you for our daily bread and forgiveness of our sins that had separated us from you. We thank you for the grace to forgive everyone who has wronged us and those indebted to us. We continue to ask for Your presence Lord God to not be led into temptation and any lies from the kingdom of darkness but deliver us from every plan of the evil one. Thank you LORD God that no weapon formed against us shall prosper because You God are on our side and we put our confidence in You, In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen. Thank you LORD.

Invitation to salvation: Finally, in case you have not already, I invite you to the kingdom of God where no force of darkness can prevail against you because of the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross that makes sons and daughters of God.

When you believe with your heart and confess with your mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins. I repent of my sin. I choose Him as my Lord and Saviour today and forever.

Congratulations, by grace you have been saved and are now a new creation in Christ Jesus. The old life has passed away and you have received the free gift of salvation into your life. To the glory of the Almighty God. Amen.

As a new believer, I urge you to prayerfully consider becoming a member of a church and buying a Bible or downloading the Bible app on your mobile in case you don't already own one!

I'll end with this Scripture in Psalm 145:13

"Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,

And Your dominion endures throughout all generations."

AMEN.
