Father God, thank you for the entrance of Your Word brings light. We thank you that Word and light is Jesus, Your Beloved. Speak to our hearts LORD and during this Easter Saturday by your grace and power redeem, restore the time and years of your sons and daughters in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.

Today's lead Word is from John 1:17 NKJV

"For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ."

Amen, thank you LORD.

Based on my previous post, we saw the way in which the Jews, God's chosen people already have the blessing of Abraham bestowed upon them. At the same time, Ephesians 1:3 tells us that all who are united with Christ Jesus have been given every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places because they are united with Christ Jesus. So we see in Christ, we have access to every blessing God has provided to His children including the blessing of Abraham that was given to his descendants by promise. Moses speaking to the people in Deuteronomy 7:7-8 NKJV says, "The LORD did not set His love on you or choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the LORD loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt."

The result of this great salvation of the LORD towards His people glorified the name of the LORD wherever they went. To this effect, Moses in Deuteronomy 4:7-8 NKJV asks the people, "For what great nation is there that God has so near to it, as the LORD our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him? And what great nation is there that has such statutes and righteous judgments as are in all this law which I set before you this day?"

In the book of Numbers is a story of prophet, Balaam, who was hired to curse the children of Israel and all he kept saying was, "How shall I curse whom God has not cursed? And how shall I denounce whom the LORD has not denounced? (Numbers 23:8 NKJV). "Behold, I have received a command to bless, He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it." (Numbers 23:20 NKJV). So we see that God's covenant with Abraham is still important to this day because it is inherent with God's blessing. If it was insignificant, then the Father God would not have included it as part of the blessings that belong to every believer who is a child of God (Galatians 3:14).

NOW Jesus, our best Friend, the Son of God, born a Jew, comes to the world and through faith invites everyone (including Jew and non Jew) to salvation. He says, everyone who receives Him, He gives the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:12-13).

Therefore, in Christ's coming, we see God making a new covenant that is as a result of a new birth for all who are born of God. This new birth signifies God's completion of all things because the law was only given as a shadow of things to come - Colossians 2:17 NLT reads, "For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality."

Moses in the law also spoke about the future coming of Jesus to the people and he said to them, "The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear," (Deuteronomy 18:15 NKJV). So when Jesus came to the world, fully God and fully man at the same time, He told His own people that if they believed Moses, they would have believed in Him as well because the law given through Moses spoke of Him as seen above. This makes Jesus the fulfilment of the law (Matthew 5:17).

TO BE CONTINUED...

I'll end with Jesus' Word in John 6:51-54 (NKJV)

  1. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.

  2. The Jews therefore quarrelled among themselves, saying, "How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?"

  3. Then Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you."

  4. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."

Amen, thank you LORD.

Invitation to salvation: Today, God's free gift of salvation through His Son Jesus Christ is extended to you. It is not something you have to earn because God has freely given it to you through Jesus. So if you feel a stirring in your heart to know more and draw closer to God's heart, please say these words:

"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever. Thank you Father that because the Son has made me free, I am now free indeed." AMEN.
