Thank you Father for this Word. May Your mercy and love redeem the time and bring restoration to your sons and daughters to every area of their life where they may need it in the name of Jesus. Now to Him, who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly and above all we ask, think or imagine according to the power that works in us, in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.

Genesis 44 is a beautiful chapter because it highlights God's goodness and restoration towards Jacob's household. He turned a terrible situation into a pleasant surprise.

Chapter 43 ends with the twelve brothers feasting together in Joseph's home. Unknown to the eleven brothers, the governor of Egypt who's hosting them is the same brother they believed to be dead.

In Genesis chapter 44, the feasting is done and it is time for the brothers to return to their home in Canaan. Joseph asks one of his servants to plant his silver cup in the sack of the youngest brother, Benjamin (Genesis 44:2). Joseph did this intentionally because later on, he sends his servant and asks them to check all the brother's sacks (Genesis 44:4) and who ever was found with the silver cup that he used for divination would stay behind in Egypt. If you remember, Jacob had told his sons and warned them about returning with Benjamin lest he departed to his grave with sorrow (Genesis 42:38). However, Judah specifically promised him that he would see to it that Benjamin would return from Egypt alive (Genesis 43:8-9).

When Joseph's silver cup was found in Benjamin's sack, the brothers tore their clothes as an expression of utmost grief and laid prostrate before Joseph pleading for mercy (Genesis 44:13-14). In Genesis 44:17, Joseph had said, "...the man in whose hand the cup was found, he shall be my slave. And as for you, go up in peace to your father."

Judah steps in and pleads their whole case before Joseph. I encourage you to check out this chapter. For the first time, we see the brothers repentant through the love they expressed for Benjamin and their father, Jacob.

It is also safe to conclude that the brother's actions in this chapter portray a change of heart in comparison to how they treated Joseph. This time round, they were willing to fight for Benjamin by not giving him into slavery unlike what happened with Joseph.

In fact in Genesis 44:16, Judah alluded to the reality that their past sin was finally ctaching up with them. It reads, "What shall we say to my lord? What shall we speak? Or how shall we clear ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your servants; here we are, my lord's slaves, both we and he also with whom the cup was found."

As mentioned earlier, Judah on behalf of his family asked for Joseph's mercy and God being a good God, He abundantly answered their prayer and Jacob's prayer in chapter 43 by graciously providing beyond their desires. God did not just give them mercy, He gave them even more through Joseph's heart of compassion and forgiveness towards his brothers. In the next chapter 45, we see Joseph overwhelmed with emotion and finally unveiling his identity to his brothers which later led to the whole family reuniting and re allocating from Canaan to Egypt as we shall see in the upcoming chapters.

Friend, God, the Father will always give you more than you ask for in prayer because in heaven's economy there's only abundance and also He loves you more than you love you. Amen.

I'll end with these verses found in the Bible

Ephesians 5:11 (NKJV)

"And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them."

Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV)

"Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need."

AMEN, thank you LORD.
