Father God, we thank you for Your Word. Your Word is power and You have also exalted Your Word above Your name. So today, we give reverence to Your Word LORD God and we ask that may our hearts be soft to receive Your instruction and wisdom for such a time as this in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Isaiah chapter 20 is a very brief and powerful chapter. Herein, we see the Word of the LORD coming to the people not only through the prophet Isaiah's mouth but also through his actions. The prophet walked naked and barefoot for three years as a confirmation of the sign and wonder against Egypt and Ethiopia (Isaiah 20:3). As mentioned earlier, whether this signifies present day Egypt and Ethiopia is stillI out for debate but Isaiah 20:4 confirms the captivity of the disobedient and it says, "so shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians as prisoners and the Ethiopians as captives, young, old, naked and barefoot, with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt."
Years later, after Isaiah's prophecy, God sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for the sins of the world. The coming of Jesus Christ to the earth is also a fulfilment of one of Isaiah's prophecies (Isaiah 53). This depicts the accuracy and integrity of God's Word and how it will never fail. When Jesus obeyed God, the Father to the point of death on the cross, He bore all of our sins, all of our griefs, sorrows, sicknesses and infirmities. Jesus also bore all of our shame as one who was crucified on a tree shaped like a cross and His body was bare and unclothed for all to witness. Matthew 27:35 tells us the soldiers gambled for Jesus' clothes after they had crucified Him confirming that He was unclothed. It is important to note that God, the Father allowed His beloved Son to go through all this pain and humiliation to say the least, so that whoever would receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour of their life would receive eternal life and their sins would be forgiven. Anyone who receives Jesus would also not be put to shame, bear sickness, griefs, sorrows and lack any good thing because Jesus bore it all in His body so that we His church would not experience it. Jesus in John 10:10 AMP reminds us that "the thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows]."
The salvation found in Christ is the beginning of redemption and where abundance is found because in Christ all who believe in Him will be saved from God's wrath that is to come on the sons of disobedience who have chosen their own fate of destruction.
I'll end with God's hope found in Ephesians 2:1-5 (AMP)
1."AND YOU [He made alive when you] were [spiritually] dead and separated from Him because of your transgressions and sins,
2.in which you walked. You were following the ways of this world [influenced by this present age], in accordance with the prince of the power of the air (Satan), the spirit who is now at work in the disobedient [the unbelieving, who fight against the purposes of God].
3.Among these [unbelievers] we all once lived in the passions of our flesh [our behaviour governed by the sinful self], indulging the desires of the human nature [without the Holy Spirit] and [the impulses] of the [sinful] mind. We were, by nature, children [under sentence] of [God's] wrath, just like the rest [of mankind].
4.But God, being [so very] rich in mercy, because of His great and wonderful love with which He loved us,
5.even when we were [spiritually] dead and separated from Him because of our sins, He made us [spiritually] alive together with Christ (for by His grace - His undeserved mercy - you have been saved from God's judgment)."
AMEN, thank you Father for Your grace and mercy we have received in Christ.
Invitation to salvation: If you would like to get to know this loving and merciful God, I invite you to make another choice by choosing God's way through partaking of His blessings found in His One and Only Son Jesus Christ, I invite you to make this confession:
Please speak the words below:
"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever. Thank you Father that because the Son has made me free, I am now free indeed." AMEN.
Congratulations, by grace you are saved and are now a new creation in Christ Jesus. The old life has passed away and you have received the free gift of salvation into your life (2 Corinthians 5:17) where you get to freely access everything I've shared in this post. To the glory of the Almighty God. Amen.
