Father God, we give you all the praise and adoration. The One in whom all things belong. May Your Word open the eyes of our understanding as we grow in relationship with You in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Today's post is from chapter 44 of Isaiah. In this chapter, the LORD is re assuring His people, the descendants of Israel to not be afraid as they are His chosen ones (Isaiah chapter 44:1-2). The LORD God re assures His people by firstly reminding them that He will not remember their transgressions anymore (Isaiah 43:25). It is important to note that mercy is God's nature. God easily forgives because sin is not of God and to be in remembrance of one's sin would go against His deity of holiness. So for His sake and our sake, God must forgive and forget our sin and transgressions.
In this chapter, the LORD God also re assures His people which also includes you and I by cautioning them of the meaningless worship of idols. He speaks of those who carve wooden images and worship them as their gods (Isaiah 44:12). He speaks of another person who makes food for himself and uses the left over portion of his food to carve an image of an idol for "...he falls down before it and worships it, prays to it and says, "deliver me, for you are my god!"(Isaiah 44:17). The LORD God continues to say in Isaiah 44:20 (NKJV), "...A deceived heart has turned him aside; and he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, "Is there not a lie on my right hand?"
But to His people the LORD God says in Isaiah 44:22 (NKJV)
"I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions, and like a cloud, your sins. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you."
The above Word shows God's nature that is revealed in Christ Jesus His beloved, a nature that forgives people before they repent, a nature that offers love, mercy and redemption to all people including the ones who disregard their need for God despite being the Creator of all creation. However, just because the creation disregards their Creator, it does not mean that He will change His heart towards them. For God must remain true and every man a liar (Romans 3:4).
In my previous post, I shared how God only has perfect gifts and gives them to His children. It is also important to recognize that the perfection of the gift says more about the giver of the gift than the actual gift itself. So the perfect gifts that we have received in Christ tell us more about God Himself and His love for mankind. They reveal the goodness of God.
Jesus Christ is the ultimate expression of God, the Father's love that He offered mankind (John 3:16). Only when one receives Jesus do they come to them full revelation and truth of God's love for them and the perfect gifts contained in His blessings that He already prepared for them.
Consequently, in God's expression of love found in Christ is where we find the perfect love that casts away fear (1 John 4:18).
I'll end with this Word found in Romans 5:8-9 (NKJV)
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we ere still sinners, Christ died for us.
Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him."
Amen, thank you LORD.
