Father we give you all the praise, the Alpha and Omega. May Your name forever be glorified over all the ends of the earth in the name of Jesus. Thank you Abba that today is the day of salvation in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Today's lead Word is from Isaiah 61:1-3 (NKJV)
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn,
To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified."
AMEN, thank you LORD.
The above verses represent the ministry of Jesus Christ who was anointed by God to preach good tidings, heal the brokenhearted, proclaim liberty to the captives, comfort the mourning, give beauty for ashes and a garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness that whoever believes and calls on Him may be called trees of righteousness that the name of the LORD may be glorified on the lives of His people.
As trees of righteousness, we see that God through His Son Jesus Christ gives a new identity to His sons and daughters when they receive Him as Lord and Saviour of their lives. After salvation, we see the life that God's sons and daughters live in Christ is a life that pleases God. This distinction is important because before salvation, our deeds were self-pleasing but now when we are joined to Christ, Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:15 puts it well and he says, "and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again."
So when the the Bible says you are now a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), you are completely transformed by the power of God that is found in believing in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. With the new tranformation, one becomes empowered by the Holy Spirit to live for God and to do those things that are pleasing to Him because they have been reconciled to God through Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:18). This further highlights the liberty that a new believer has in God. 2 Corinthians says, "Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty". In the new testament, as sons and daughters of God, we have the liberty to love and be loved by God. We have the liberty to obey the Lord God, to worship Him and to receive all the promises that God has for us including the ones found in Isaiah chapter 61. This is the reason we no longer regard anyone according to the flesh (2 Corinthians 5:16).
I'll end with these verses in 2 Corinthians 1:20-22 (NKJV)
"For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God,
who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee."
AMEN, thank you LORD.
