Hallelujah, praise be to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has given us every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Today, is the beginning of a new journey with the Holy Spirit in the book of Isaiah. May the LORD continue to lead the way and open up the eyes of our understanding and write His Word on our hearts and minds as we read and share His Word in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.
Today's lead verses are found in Isaiah 1:2-4 (NKJV)
"2.Hear O heavens, and give ear, O earth! For the LORD has spoken: "I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against Me;
3.The ox knows its owner and the donkey its master's crib; but Israel does not know, my people do not consider."
4.Alas, sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a brood of evil doers, children who are corrupters! They have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked to anger the Holy One of Israel, they have turned away backward.
5.Why should you be stricken again? You will revolt more and more. The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faints."
This book was written by the Holy Spirit through the prophet Isaiah and he is beaconing to the LORD's people with a message from the throne room of God. In the above verses, we see the LORD grieved to what is happening to His own children, children that He has loved with all of Him. In As seen above, the LORD says in Isaiah 1:2, He has nourished and brought up children who have rebelled against Him. Now if you are a parent, you would understand that no parent would love, train and bring up a child only for them to turn wayward and against them to make matters worse. Yet humanity chooses to do this to God. God shares this mutual feeling as a Father except in His case, the pain God feels is actually much deeper because He created mankind. You can imagine, what it is like for God to see His creation to go wayward but He still chooses to love us inspite of all things. Only God has this kind of love. In some unfortunate instances, some parents may decide to change their minds when it comes it raising and taking care of their kids but God will never change His heart of love towards you. Later on, as we continue on this journey, Isaiah 49:14-16 NKJV says, "But Zion said, "The LORD has forsaken me, and my Lord has forgotten me. Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely, they may forget, yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palm of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me." - Amen. Your name is inscribed or if you may prefer to call it tattooed on God's hand. Take heart, God will not forget you.
When we continue through Isaiah chapter 1, we see that as much as the LORD is displeased with the tribe of Judah and the children of Israel, He continually offers an olive branch to His people and asks them to put evil away from them (Isaiah 1:16). Isaiah 1:18 NKJV portrays the LORD's love and mercy towards Judah and He says, "Come now, and let us reason together," says the LORD, "though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool."
Friend, God is a holy God and He can never commune with sin and unholiness. Thankfully, He knows our standard of holiness cannot match up to His standard of holiness and this is the reason that He sent Jesus Christ, His One and Only Son. When you receive Jesus Christ as LORD and Saviour of your life, you also receive His holiness and purity. So holiness and purity is not something that is manufactured by our own human efforts but rather it is freely given to us through Christ, by the Spirit of the LORD.
The above lead verses also shows us the deception of evil and sin. Whenever we turn away from our God, it may seem either unrecognizable or pleasurable in the moment, maybe both but it is always detrimental. If I may put it like this, anything that separates you from God's plan and purpose for your life will always be detrimental to your well being. In Isaiah 1:5 we see the LORD saying to His people (which includes us as well), "...the whole head is sick and the whole heart faints." God's will concerning His people is not for them to have sick heads and faint hearts so He implores His people continually to turn back their hearts to Him. Psalm 51:17 NKJV tells us, "the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart these, O God, you will not despise."
Friend, God is One who is interested in our hearts and heart posture and in Isaiah 1:11 NKJV, He cautions us, "To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me? says the LORD. "I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fed cattle, I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs or goats."
I'll end with this Word of the LORD found in 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)
"If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
AMEN, thank you LORD.
