The power and strength of the Lord

Updated: Dec 22, 2022

Today's lead Scripture is from 2 Samuel 22:33 NKJV and I pray for the Holy Spirit to give each one of us a revelation and understanding as we read His Word. Every Scripture in this post is referenced from the New King James Bible Version;

"God is my strength and power,

And He makes my way perfect."

After the decision to become a born again believer through a confession of faith and a water baptism (John 3:5), we become new creations. To put it exactly as it is put in the Bible, 2 Corinthians 5:17 enlightens us that "therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new" and the Holy Spirit comes to live in us.

The above Scripture in 2 Samuel 22:33 is found in the Old Testament. I love the consistency, dependable and timeless integrity of God, that does not change. Ephesians 6: 10, a verse found in the New Testament shares a similar tone with our Word for the day. It says, "Finally brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Both these Scriptures not only point to the power and strength/might of God but also His nature to work inside of us when we become consciously aware of His saving power to heal, restore, save and make our lives whole.

Ephesians 3:20 says that "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us..."Often times, when we pray using this Scripture believing for God's abundant power to bless our lives, it is easy to overlook the truth that His exceeding abundant power works on the inside of us. When Jesus died, He left us with the Helper, who is the Holy Spirit (John 14:26).

Philippians 4:19 tell us that "my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus". I love this Scripture because not only does it encompass meeting all our financial needs but generally all our needs in life. Friend, the possibilities with God are limitless when we collaborate with God in addition to believing and trusting in Him thanks to His abundant power and grace working in us. 1 Corinthians 1:9 enlightens us that "God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord."

Throughout this post, I have emphasized the word "in" by underlining it because as children of God it is important to remember that, the Kingdom of God is within us. It is not in a building or a outside in the sky.

Luke 17:21 tells that "For indeed the Kingdom of God is within you." This also means that the Holy Spirit, our Helper that Jesus Christ left us with is also on the inside of us. The best evidence of the inward nature of God's Kingdom is to think of a time when something good happened to you, something you often thought about but at the same time, never prayed about but nonetheless, God was faithful to meet your needs and heart's desires. And this is why the enemy works overtime to take this consciousness away from God's children by filling them with false visions contrary to the Word of God and negative thoughts and as you may have already realized, these 'joy stealers' also happen on the inside!

But thanks be to God for His constant overflowing love and abundant mercy for humanity. Psalm 103 : 10 - 11 highlights God's mercy and kindness towards us, that is, "10.He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according to our inquities. 11. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him."

Therefore when challenges come, choose to become and remain conscious of the power and strength of God to work inside you as His child above all that you can ask, think or imagine.

Romans 8:14 informs us that "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God". However, being led by the Spirit does not mean we impulsively make decisions. As believers, it is important to seek God's heart on every matter before making a decision and this is what it translates to be led by the Spirit of God. The heart of today's message is that the power and strength of God works best on the inside of us as new creation believers thanks to the death and resurrection of the Son of the living God, Jesus Christ.

I will end with these Words that Jesus Christ, our Vine, portrayed in John 15:4-5 NKJV

"4.Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

5. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."

HALLELUJAH.

Invitation to salvation: Finally, in case you have not already, I invite you to believe with your heart and confess with your mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins. I choose Him as my Lord and Saviour today and forever.

Congratulations, by grace you have been saved and are now a new creation in Christ Jesus. The old life has passed away and by faith, you have received the free gift of salvation into your life - to the glory of the Almighty God. Amen.

As a new believer, I urge you to prayerfully consider becoming a member of a church, getting water baptized and buying a Bible or downloading the Bible app on your mobile in case you don't already own one!
