Isaiah 46

Father, we invite Your presence into our spaces - bedrooms, cars, living rooms, offices, prayer closets, every room and space we occupy in the name of Jesus. We thank you LORD that where the Spirit of the LORD is, there is liberty so we walk in that liberty as sons and daughters of God for he who the Son sets free is free indeed. We also usher Your presence into our hearts and on this platform as we read and share the Word in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.
Today's Word is from Isaiah chapter 46. This chapter is a short one and I hope you create time to read it including all the other chapters in the book of Isaiah! Just like Isaiah 45, we see that in Isaiah 46 God is expressing Himself through His Word which is no surprise. Yesterday, I shared the importance of the Word of God as it reveals and contains the very power of God. I also shared how the Word is a person and His name is the Son of God, Jesus Christ.
A few years ago, one of my students shared about his school classmates who believe the Bible is a mythical book. We talked about various things but ultimately, it came down to one question that I asked him, "what do you personally believe about the Bible?" I believe this is the question that we all need to ask ourselves not what your pastor tells you about the Word of God, but what are your personal beliefs and attitudes concerning God's Word? This is because when your personal beliefs concerning the Word of God are aligned to see it the way God sees His Word, it will reflect in your faith, actions and ultimately in your walk and relationship with God.
In this chapter, we see the descendants of Israel, people of covenant, that God is drawing close to Him by reminding them of His love towards them through His Word. He does not do it through mighty signs and wonders, but He does it through the Word of His prophets like Isaiah, Zechariah, Hosea, Jeremiah, David, to mention but a few who were ultimately men of God that spoke God's Word. And today, God speaks to us through Jesus Christ. Hebrews 1:1-4 NKJV shares and says,
"1.God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,
2.has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;
3.who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
4.having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they."
I'm convinced that if we people believed God's Word the way we ought to, they would no need for God to remind us of His majesty, His faithfulness and how indeed He will bring all that He speaks to pass as expressed in Isaiah 46:9-10.
In 2 Corinthians 1:20, God through Apostle Paul, reminds us that all of God's promises are Yes and Amen. At the same time, the NKJV version notes that God's yes and amen promises work through us. That is, through our participation by faith for our good and for His glory. So, what is that situation you need God's intervention? God's Word promises deliverance, hope, healing, provision, breakthrough, restoration and He says, His promises are yes and amen towards you in the name of Jesus. In Isaiah 46:3-4, we see the LORD sharing another promise of long life to His people. Since, He carried them when they were in their mother's womb, He will also continue to carry them to their old age until their hairs turn gray (Isaiah 46:4). Thank you Father for this promise of long healthy lives and we receive it now in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Through the Prophet Isaiah, the LORD continues to remind the people to break their fellowship with idols devised from human efforts, who cannot talk or speak but carved and made by man for his self-gratification. God reminds His people that idols are powerless and will never bear the power to deliver them from their troubles. On the contrary, their worship of idols is laying a snare for their own destruction. So this chapter ends with God imploring His people and all people to return to His righteousness (Isaiah 46:12-13).
I'll end with this Word found in Hosea 2:23 (NKJV)
"Then I will sow her for Myself in the earth. And I will have mercy on her who has not obtained mercy, then I will say to those who were not My people, 'You are my people!' And they shall say, 'You are my God!"
Amen, thank you LORD.
