Father God, we thank you that this is the day that You have made and we shall be glad and rejoice in it in the name of Jesus, Amen. We thank you for renewed hope and strength in our lives, because Jesus lives, we live as well in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.
Today's Word is from Isaiah 57:16-17 (NKJV) and the LORD says,
For thus says the High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: "I dwell in the high and holy place, with him who has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
For I will not contend forever, nor will I always be angry; for the spirit would fail before Me, and the souls which I have made."
Amen, thank you LORD.
In today's lead Scripture verses found in Isaiah 57, we see the LORD coming down in His majesty attentive to the needs of the people He created. In Isaiah 57:15 above, the LORD says that He dwells high above and in a holy place but despite this power and majesty, God pays attention to the person who has a humble spirit and revives the contrite heart. Another meaning of the word contrite is one who is sorry. So, if i'm to rephrase the language in a simpler way, the LORD God will not turn away from one with a humble spirit and a sorry or repentant heart.
In Psalm 8:4 NIV David asks the LORD, "what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?" This question is truly profound and I find it is rhetorical as well. God, the Creator of all heaven and earth when you think about it, does not need us. We are His creation and we are at His mercy, He may dispense with us if He chooses as our Creator but nevertheless, God chooses us and continues to choose us until this day despite the disobedience and evil of man. God still chooses to love mankind and His utmost expression of love is seen when He sent Jesus Christ, His beloved Son to die for the sin of the world (John 3:16) so that we could be redeemed from every power of darkness and in relationship with God, the Father.
In this chapter, we see the evidence of God's unceasing mercy towards the repentant heart and in Isaiah 57:16, the LORD God says that He would not always be angry. We also see the LORD God promising healing, peace, restoration and comfort to the ones who turn to Him (Isaiah 57:18-19). However, concerning the wicked, the LORD promises judgment and says there is no peace for them (Isaiah 57:21).
I'll end with this Word found in 1 John 1:9 (NKJV)
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Amen, thank you LORD.
