Exodus 31

Holy Spirit, we invite you into our hearts and homes. Give us understanding and revelation as we read and share the Word today In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Exodus 31 starts with the LORD speaking to Moses about the specific people referred to as the artisans who had the skill required to build the tabernacle, the tables, utensils, altars, garments of ministry and the anoiniting oil and sweet incense for the holy place (Exodus 31:7-11). The particular people that the LORD appointed were Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur of the tribe of Judah and Aholiab the son of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan (Exodus 31:2&6). God is a specific and detailed God. The LORD does not participate in random acts and decisions because with Him everything has to serve a purpose. In Exodus 31:3 he says about Bezalel, "And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship." It is also interesting to note that just as the LORD gave Aaron and his family, the gift of priesthood, and Moses the gift of leadership to the children of Israel is the same way He provided the gift of wisdom and knowledge to Bezalel and Aholiab that would serve Him and His people. We see that as the body of Christ, we need one another for no single person has all the answers. We are better when we work together and according to the gifts the LORD has given us. James 1:5 reminds us, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." In the same manner that the LORD gifted the chosen artisans with the spirit of wisdom, is the same way that God is also able to abundantly fill you with wisdom, knowledge and understanding today concerning all areas of your life when you ask Him in prayer.

In Exodus 31:12-17, we see the LORD commanding His people to keep the Sabbath day of rest and this was to apply to all generations. Exodus 31:17 says, "It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed." As we can see, God does not desire for His people to toil, working endlessly without resting. Infact in the Old Testament, when the people rested, they were able to reap plentiful harvests as opposed to when they were always working. Today in the new Testament, rest is a person and His name is Jesus Christ. When Jesus died on the cross, He said "...it is finished..." (John 19:30 ) meaning no amount of human effort and good works can add to or take away from Christ's finished works on the cross because He has freely given us, God's children all things. Ephesians 1:3 reaffirms to us, "All praise to God, the Father of our LORD Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ." - AMEN. Thank you LORD.
