Exodus Ch.20

Heavenly Father, we thank you for this day and moment LORD. We thank you for comfort, strength, and the Word which is one of the best love gifts that You have given us. We ask that you guide our understanding as we read this chapter In Jesus Name. Amen.

Chapter 20 starts off with the LORD speaking the ten commandments to the children of Israel (Exodus 20:1-17).

Without the law, the people would not have known their sins for the ten commandments helped them to know the difference between right and wrong. Previously, people sinned but there was no penalty because the ten commandments which introduced the law had not yet come into place.

However as these ten commandments were given, the people pleaded with Moses and they requested him to speak to God directly as opposed to God directly speaking to them as God's voice terrified them to death (Exodus 20:18-19). It is interesting to note that when God gave the ten commandments, fear fell upon the people. That is, "Moses said to the people, "Do not fear; for God has come to test you, and that His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin."

On the other hand, when grace through God's One and Only Son Jesus Christ came, it was an act of God's love for the world (John 3:16) as opposed to the fear that came with the ten commandments. When Christ came, He was able to bring to completion God's original intention which was to reconcile man to Himself as it was in the garden of Eden, something that the law failed to do. Now we can be in God's presence without fear, dread, shame or condemnation over our mistakes when we accept Jesus Christ as our LORD and Saviour. He takes our place then becomes our perfection before God and the life we now live as born again believers, we live by the faith of the Son of God (Galatians 2:20).

I'll end with this Word in Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV)

8."For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

9. not of works, lest anyone should boast."

Amen. Thank you LORD.

Invitation to salvation: If you would like to know this God who from the beginning of creation has always desired for you to be holy, free and restored in relationship with Him through His One and Only Son Jesus Christ - whose faithful promises are yes and amen, whose mercy and love endures forever, I invite you to make this confession, "I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour today and forever."

Congratulations, by grace you are saved and are now a new creation in Christ Jesus. The old life has passed away and you have received the free gift of salvation into your life (2 Corinthians 5:17). To the glory of the Almighty God. Amen.
