Abba Father, thank you that this is the day that You have made and we shall be glad and rejoice in it in the name of Jesus. As always Holy Spirit, we invite You to open up the eyes of our understanding as we read and share today's Word in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.
Today's sharing is from Genesis chapter 25. It starts off with Abraham getting married to Keturah (Genesis 25:1). They went on to have children together (Genesis 25:3-4) but Abraham ensured that everything he had including his inheritance solely belonged to Isaac. While on the other hand, Abraham gave gifts to his other children and physically separated them from his son Isaac by sending them away to a far country in the East (Genesis 25:5-6).
As this chapter continues to unfold, we see the death of Abraham. He was one hundred and seventy five years old when he died (Genesis 24:7). He was buried next to his wife Sarah by both his sons, Isaac and Ishmael in the cave of Machpelah that Abraham had purchased from the sons of Heth (Genesis 24:9-10).
Genesis 25:11 NKJV also highlights something worthy to note and it says, "And it came to pass, after the death of Abraham that God blessed his son Isaac. And Isaac dwelt at Beer Lahai Roi." I believe this tells us that Isaac started functioning in the same level of anointing and blessings that the LORD God had given to his father, Abraham.
This chapter also reveals to us that as much as Isaac and Rebekah were married, they had no children. So Isaac prayed for his wife and the LORD granted his request (Genesis 25:21). I believe this is one of the first instances that we see God's blessings of answered prayer operating on Isaac's life. James 5:16 says, "Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much."
When Rebekah conceived, she decided to inquire of the LORD as she felt a certain uneasiness during her pregnancy (Genesis 25:21). Back then, they were no scans for pregnant mothers, but they had a more advanced technology called prayer so the LORD responded to her, "Two nations are in your womb, two peoples shall be separated from your body; one people shall be stronger than the other, and the older shall serve the younger." (Genesis 25:23).
When it was time for her to give birth, she indeed gave birth to twins as the LORD had spoken to her. The first born was Esau, who was red, hairy all over and Jacob, the second born came out holding unto his brother's heel (Genesis 25:25-26). Isaac's sons that he birthed when he was sixty years old had different character traits. Esau grew up to be a skillful hunter while Jacob on the other hand, dwelt mostly at home (Genesis 25:27).
However, in later chapters, we get to see that Jacob was also a shepherd.
On one fateful day, Esau returned home, probably from hunting, exhausted and in dire need of something to eat. So he asked his brother Jacob to feed him that red stew to which Jacob responded; "Sell me your birthright as of this day." (Genesis 25:31). Unfortunately, Esau responded, "Look, I am about to die; so what is this birthright to me?" Genesis 25:34 tells us, "And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils; then he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright."
I find this Scripture very sad and unfortunate.
Prayer: My prayer for you and I is may we never despise anything that God has freely entrusted with us in the name of Jesus, Amen. I also pray that if there is any thing that was taken away from you by the enemy whether knowingly, with your consent or unknowingly without your consent, may God's Mighty Right hand joyfully restore it to you double fold in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you Father for blessing and restoring all that was stolen from your children by the canker worms, the palmer worms and the caterpillars. Thank you Father that You are sending your angels on assignment to ensure that there is a quickening and a manifestation of this word in the name of Jesus. May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven in the name of Jesus. Amen. Thank you LORD Jesus.
I'll end with this Word found in Hebrews 12:1-2 (NKJV)
"1.Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
2.looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."
AMEN. THANK YOU LORD.
Invitation to salvation: In the same way, God works in His children by giving them the will and desire to receive and walk in obedience to His Son Christ Jesus who washes away all their sins and gives them a brand new life where you will live and abide eternally in God's presence while experiencing all the blessings He has for them.
If you would like to become a child of God as well; I invite you to make this confession:
"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever." AMEN.
Congratulations, by grace you are saved and are now a new creation in Christ Jesus. The old life has passed away and you have received the free gift of salvation into your life (2 Corinthians 5:17) where you get to freely access everything I've shared in this post. To the glory of the Almighty God. Amen.
