Father, what an honour it is to call you Father, to know Your goodness and love through Christ, to know that You are unchanging, true, reliable, and trustworthy. Who is like You O God? Who loves like You? Who shows mercy like You? Who forgives and forgets like You? Who comforts and refreshes like You? Who surrounds us with His presence like You? Who will never give up on their children like You? Who gives us victory like You? Who is as faithful as You? Who is like You LORD God of heaven and earth?! - There is NONE. May You receive our heartfelt praise for You in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.

Today's Word is from Genesis 3:7-11 (NKJV)

"7.Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.

8.And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

9.Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him "Where are you?"

10.So he said, "I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself."

11.And He said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?"

This week is a continuation of last week's Word about the knowledge of good and evil.

In Genesis 3:7, we see that there is a knowledge that came to Adam and his wife that they did not originally have when God created them that is, they now knew that they were naked after eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Interestingly, this knowledge already existed but God designed it in a way that He did not want them focussing their minds on an evil called shame. Clearly, tailoring is not a thing in heaven because in Genesis 2:25, Adam and his wife were both naked and felt no shame. God's grace and love covered them.

As a result, we see Adam and his wife hiding and God asking Adam in Genesis 3:11, "...who told you that you were naked?" You see, friend, despite the diosbedience which resulted in sin coming into the world caused by the enemy. Nevertheless, God did not condemn Adam and Eve.

Romans 8:1 reminds God's children that "there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."

This reveals to us that from the beginning of time, condemnation originates from satan while on the other hand, God is the origin of love.

As a sign of God's love, before Adam and his wife departure from the garden of Eden, God himself sewed tunics of skin and clothed them as seen in Genesis 3:21. His love did not condemn but rather it covered their mistakes and we see God display this same love through Jesus Christ who bore all our shame so that we could live free lives in the name of Jesus. When you get born again, you receive the life of God found only in Christ, His Son who bore all your shame when He died on the cross for your sins.

Then there is this interesting verse found in Genesis 3:12 when God was "searching" for Adam. I use "searching" because all things are known to God and He has no need to look for nothing or anyone.

However, 'God's search' happened right after Adam's eyes had opened up to the reality that him and his wife were naked and in God's presence. This caused them to sow fig leaves as coverings (Genesis 3:8).

The awareness of their nakedness also symbolizes that for the first time, man was looking to themselves, their ability and personal abilities/efforts instead of looking to God and focussing on His presence and the supply of His grace towards him/her.

Anyways, back to Genesis 3:12. It reads, "The man said, "The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree and I ate."

This verse has terribly cast the male species in a negative light for a long a time but today, permit me to redeem them in the name of Jesus. When God asked Adam the question in Genesis 3:11 above, it is not because God did not know the answer to that question.

The Bible in Luke 12:48 reminds us that to whom much is given, much is required, Adam was given much and therefore the level of responsibility that the LORD had entrusted Him with did not allow God to ask his wife the same question. The one with more information is the one who carries the greater burden and responsibility of walking in God's grace and obedience. Adam knew too much as a result of spending a significant time in God's presence in comparison to his wife.

At the time, Adam should have acknowledged he missed it concerning obeying God's instruction of not eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil and covered his wife's mistakes. I believe Adam's repentance would have covered his wife's disobedience as the two had become one flesh (Genesis 2:24).

Instead, he threw his wife 'under the bus' and I believe one of the probable reasons for doing this was because by this time, the consequences of eating the the forbidden fruit that caused spiritual death as a result of sin had already kicked in. But we thank God, the Father for the redemption that is found in Christ Jesus, the Son of God!

I'll end with this Word in Luke 1:68 and Luke 1:74-75 (NKJV)

"68."Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, for He has visited and redeemed His people,

...

  1. As He spoke by the mouth of the His holy prophets, who have been since the world began,

  2. That we should be saved from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us,

  3. To perform the mercy promised to our fathers and to remember His holy covenant,

  4. The oath which He swore to our father Abraham:

  5. To grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve Him without fear,

  6. In holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life."

AMEN. Thank you LORD.
