Genesis Ch.16

Updated: Sep 6

Father, we are thankful for You. We come in agreement and profess Your holy Name. May You King of glory forever be magnified in all of the earth in the name of Jesus. We also ask for understanding and revelation of Your Word. As we read the Word may lives be positively transformed for the glory of Your Kingdom in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.

Today's verses are coming from Genesis 16:1-2 (NKJV)

1.Now Sarai, Abram's wife, had borne him no children. And she had an Egyptian maidservant whose name was Hagar.

2.So Sarai said to Abram, "See now, the LORD has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her." And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai."

Previously in Genesis chapter 15, we looked at how the LORD God requires us to see things the way He sees them. Only when we are able to see things from God's perspective, are we then able to become children of God that reveal the glory of the Father. Amen.

Today's lead Scriptures portrays Sarai's heart especially towards God's heart and His promises. Genesis 16:2 above shows us that Sarai erroneously believed that the reason she did not have children was because God had restrained her from bearing children.

In the gospel of Matthew is a story of a leper who comes to Jesus and says to Him, "Lord if you are willing, You can make me clean." (Matthew 8:2). In Matthew 8:3, "Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed."Immediately his leprosy was cleansed."

In this story, the leper had no doubts that Jesus was a healer but he doubted whether Jesus was willing to do it for him. I bring you good news today. Jesus is still a healer today just like He was thousands of years ago. Not only is He able to heal you, but He is also more than willing to heal you because sickness and disease do not originate from God.

Friend, what's your heart posture towards God? Sarai clearly fell into the deception of the enemy that her inability to have children was something God denied her.

Let's not exempt Abram completely either because just like Adam, he knew first hand the details of the covenant that the LORD God had made with him. As we saw last week, he believed God. Nevertheless, Abram still listened to his wife's instruction by bearing a child with his wife's maidservant.

Back to today's focus which is, Sarai. Hebrews 11:11 says, "By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised."

This demonstrates the power of viewing God with the right vision. When Sarai (who eventually became Sarah), was able to see God's true nature and His heart of love, she was finally able to give birth to Isaac, her biological son.

TO BE CONTINUED...

I'll end with Jesus Christ's Word found in Luke 11:9:-13 (NKJV)

9."So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

10."For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

11."If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish?

12."Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?

13."If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!"

AMEN. THANK YOU FATHER FOR YOUR FAITHFULNESS AND LOVE TOWARDS ME [insert your name]. AMEN, GLORY TO GOD.

Invitation to salvation: Today, God's grace is still available and welcomes all who desire to know His heart of redemption through His one and only Son Jesus Christ. Because of Jesus Christ, every evil imagination of heart and all sins has been conquered on the cross and washed away by His precious blood. If this is you - I invite you to make this confession:

"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever." AMEN.

As always, I encourage you to read the full chapter in your Bible! Please check out Genesis 16 and feel free to share your thoughts in the comments :).
