Father, thank you for Your Word. Thank you for understanding of the Word and renewing our minds into our God given identity that You have given us in Christ, in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Our lead Scriptures are from Genesis 17:1-2 (NKJV)
1."When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, "I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.
2."And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly."
Today's sharing is from Genesis chapter 17 and we see God make an everlasting covenant with Abram. Immediately, the LORD proceeds to changing Abram's name to "...Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations." (Genesis 17:5). The LORD God then proceeded to share with Abraham details concerning the sign of the covenant between each other (Genesis 17:5-9). The sign of this covenant between God and Abraham was circumcision of every male child. This physical circumcision of the flesh applied to every male child born in Abraham's house, resident in his house or bought with money (Genesis 17:10-13). Any male who would not be circumcised would be cut off from God's covenant (Genesis 17:14).
In Genesis 17:13, the LORD God tells Abraham"...and My covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant."
But thanks be to God, that today as children of God, we are also a part of the descendants of Abraham. However, as a child of God, you are a descendant of Abraham by faith for God no longer requires His children to be physically circumcised in the flesh as a sign of his covenant with them.
As children of God, we are now under a new covenant which was demonstrated through God's love sending His One and Only Son to die for the sins of the world (John 3:16).
This new covenant is not about the circumcision of the flesh but rather a circumcision of the heart which happens through faith in Christ Jesus.
In Romans 4: 13-16 (NLT) presents a clear picture of God's plan It reads,
13."Clearly, God's promise to give the whole earth to Abraham and his descendants was not based on his obedience to God's law, but on a right relationship with God that comes by faith.
14.If God's promise is only for those who obey the law, then faith is not necessary and the promise is pointless.
15.For the law always brings punishment on those who try to obey it. (The only way to avoid breaking the law is to have no law to break!).
16.So the promise is received by faith. It is given as a free gift. And are all certain to receive it, whether or not we live according to the law of Moses, if we have the like Abraham's. For Abraham is the father of all who believe."
AMEN. THANK YOU LORD.
Invitation to salvation: If you would like to experience these blessings and the circumcision of the heart that comes through faith in Jesus Christ, the son of God - I invite you to make this confession:
"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever." AMEN.
Congratulations, by grace you are saved and are now a new creation in Christ Jesus. The old life has passed away and you have received the free gift of salvation into your life (2 Corinthians 5:17) where you get to freely access everything I've shared in this post. To the glory of the Almighty God. Amen.
