Father God, we thank you that this is the day that You have made and we shall be glad and rejoice in it in the name of Jesus. Thank you that You are always faithful. Thank you that Your arm is not too short that it cannot save, heal and redeem the lives of Your sons and daughters so we give you all the praise LORD and we come in agreement and say may Your name forever be magnified in all of the earth in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.
Genesis chapter 18 starts off with the LORD meeting Abraham. We see Abraham's nature of hospitality and honor expressed through providing the men with some water to wash their feet (Genesis 18:4) and the urgency that came with preparing food for them to eat (Genesis 18:6-8 NKJV). After the men were done eating, they went ahead to ask Abraham for Sarah and told them that she would have a son the next time they would return (Genesis 18:9-10). However, Sarah laughed at the thought of having a child at her old age (Genesis 18:12-13 NKJV) just like Abraham when the LORD first mentioned to him that he would have a child with his wife (Genesis 17:17 NKJV). Thankfully, God's promises are not based on our faithfulness but rather His nature of goodness, love and faithfulness towards all mankind. In 2 Timothy 2:13 (NKJV), the Bible says that even when we are not faithful, God remains faithful because He cannot deny Himself. Thank you LORD for Your grace that fulfills the promises of your sons and daughters, not based on their actions but based on Your faithfulness and goodness and may Your will be done on earth and in every nation as it is in heaven in the name of Jesus. Amen
Later on in the chapter, we see the flagrant sin of Sodom that came before the LORD (Genesis 18:20-21 NKJV). However, God in His love chose to inform Abraham of His decision. Genesis 18:17-18 NKJV says, "Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing, since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice, that the LORD may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him."
The portrays to us that the covenant relationship that God had made with Abraham would not permit God to destroy a city without informing Abraham, a chosen pillar of God for future generations of righteousness and justice.
This chapter also demonstrates that Abraham not only had a good understanding of God's nature but also of his identity as one who had a covenant with God, something that provided him with confidence to intercede on behalf of Sodom. In reverence, Abraham said to the LORD, "Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?" This then led Abraham to offer up prayers of mercy on behalf of Sodom (Genesis 18:23-32 NKJV) and at the end of their conversation, God told Abraham that He would not destroy the Sodom if He found ten righteous people. (Genesis 18:32 NKJV).
Today, as a child of God, you too have a love covenant with God based on what His Son Jesus Christ did on the cross when He died for the sins of the world, including yours! Amen. This new covenant (2 Corinthians 5:17-19) freely gives you an identity as a child of God who can boldly approach God, the Father in prayer with all your requests trusting that He'll able to answer your requests just like Abraham did. 1 John 5:14-15 NKJV reinforces this and says, "Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him."
Prayer: Father, thank you for this Word and thank you for the opportunity we have to commune with You in prayer. Right now we come in agreement and invite Your presence and peace into the nations LORD God. May mercy prevail and may You change whatever does not represent Your glory in our land in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.
I'll end with this Word found in Hebrews 4:14-16 (NKJV)
"14.Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
15.For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
16.Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need."
AMEN. THANK YOU LORD.
Invitation to salvation: If you would like to experience the blessings of having a love covenant with God whose throne you can boldly access with Jesus Christ as Your great and compassionate High Priest - I invite you to make this confession:
"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever." AMEN.
Congratulations, by grace you are saved and are now a new creation in Christ Jesus. The old life has passed away and you have received the free gift of salvation into your life (2 Corinthians 5:17) where you get to freely access everything I've shared in this post. To the glory of the Almighty God. Amen.
