The power of praise
Father God, thank you for Your Word that is life, truth, freedom and that contains the power to redeem, set free and deliver Your children from all worries and troubles that may cause heartache. May You speak to hearts LORD by providing revelation, understanding, joy and comfort. I ask LORD that may solutions and answers to long standing obstacles begin to unveil as we read and meditate on Your Word for where two or more are gathered, there You are in our midst In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Today's Word is from Numbers 10:9 and it reads,
"When you go to war in your land against your enemy who oppresses you, then you shall sound the trumpets, and you will be remembered before the LORD your God, and you will be saved from your enemies."
If you have been attending church for sometime, you may have heard and experienced the power of praise and worship. For instance, Psalm 22:3 reminds us that God inhabits the praises of His people.
In the same manner, we also see praise as a powerful weapon that activates the power of God towards His people. In the Old Testament, a prophet called Nehemiah often prayed and asked the LORD to remember Him (Nehemiah 13:31) and the above Scripture tells us that God would remember His people and save them from their enemies when they sounded their trumpets.
Sometimes, just like Nehemiah the prophet, life may present situations that may make you wonder if God remembers you. Be comforted friend, for God indeed truly knows and remembers you. Still in the Old Testament, we see another story where the King of Judah, Jehoshaphat, asked for the LORD's intervention when he was faced by his enemies. The LORD promised the King of Judah victory against his enemies and in 2 Chronicles 20:17 the LORD said, "You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem! Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the LORD is with you." On the day of battle, King Jehoshaphat appointed people who went ahead of the army praising the LORD about His mercies that endured forever (2 Chronicles 20:21). The following verse reads, "Now when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated." (2 Chronicles 20:22). The LORD God indeed remembered His people and saved them from their enemies.
At the same time, this does not mean that the LORD does not remember you because you don't praise Him. When Christ, took every sin in His body during His crucifixion on the cross, God, the Father's presence left Him and in that unimaginable moment of agony and pain to say the least He cried, "...my God, my God why have you forsaken me" (Matthew 27:46). This happened so that no child born of God would ever feel forsaken or abandoned by God because Jesus Christ bore that pain for everyone. The LORD God, always reminds us in His Word that "...I will never leave nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5) and today's Scripture is a reminder that praise activates the power found in this promise.
In the book of Acts is another powerful story of Paul and Silas who were imprisoned for sharing the gospel of Christ. At midnight, they started singing hymns and praying to God. Acts 16:26 says, "Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loosed." - Hallelujah. Again, we see the LORD saving His people from their enemies when they praised Him whenever they were faced with oppression from their enemies.
Prayer: Father God, we thank you for the power that is found in praising and fixing our eyes on Your love, mercy and compassion that endures forever. We thank you LORD that we not only have to praise You in times of adversity but rather at all times as long as we live In the name of Jesus. We thank you LORD that as we meditate on Your goodness and loving kindness for each and every one of us, we are giving praise to Your most Holy name and every chain contrary to the good plans and purposes You have for us is loosed from our lives In the name of Jesus. We decree and declare that we are blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus and that as sons and daughters of the Most High God, we are walking into open doors of favor and every blessing of the LORD that makes rich and adds no sorrow not by power, not by might but by the Spirit of the LORD In the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.
Invitation to salvation: If you would like to know the LORD God who from the beginning of creation has always loved and desired to commune with you, dwell on the inside of you to provide wisdom, knowledge, light and be included in the blessings of Christ Jesus as His son and daughter with Him as your loving Father - I invite you to make this confession, "I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour today and forever." AMEN.
Congratulations, by grace you are saved and are now a new creation in Christ Jesus. The old life has passed away and you have received the free gift of salvation into your life (2 Corinthians 5:17). To the glory of the Almighty God. Amen. Feel free to reach out to us on info@bibleversionoflife.com. We would love to hear your story! God bless you.
